No Sugar - A Sri Lankan Journey
A surf trip without expectations is often the surf trip you score best on. That was certainly the case on this trip. After three previous trips to Sri Lanka, we were well aware of the fickle nature of swells and the heartbreaking tendency for forecasting sites to overpromise conditions around the island.
However, this trip led us straight into a vortex of shreddable waves, fun logging reefs and Mandiri-style tubing beachies. A truly successful Lanka trip!
All you can eat vegetable curries were the regular breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spices and flavours so delicious it was impossible to get sick of them. When they cost less than one hour parking in Byron Bay, it's a hard routine to break.
Sri Lanka still has many waves not surfed regularly by tourists or locals. All it takes is a bit of time and a willingness to explore and you will find them! We hope you'll take some time to explore next time you visit!
